Desperate word for Philippine Medical Professionals…

On October 2 2007, Teri Hatcher “Susan Mayer” throw a knock-out line from Desperate housewives episode that upsets Philippine Medical Professionals and even the Philippine Government made a protest against “Desperate Housewives series” for a slur made against the Filipino Doctors.

I’m sure a lot of Professional Doctors from Philippines or even Filipino people will feel insulted from this line

can I check those diplomas because I want to make sure that they’re not from some med school in the Philippines.” -Susan Mayer

In my hopeless opinion… I think it is not Teri Hatcher who is responsible with this racial slur against Philippine Med.

hmmmm.. I don’t know who really needs to be blamed and who needs to apologize.. But I guess It’s the producer or the script writer who has a big responsibility in this discriminating act against Philippine Medical Professionals. Do we need to boycott “Desperate Housewives“?

Let me know your opinion. Rant it here…

The Philippine consulate should sue the scriptwriter or those people behind desperate housewives. We should not blame the artist..because as we all know.. she’s just doing her job. And lastly, the filipino doctors who are from med schools here in our country continue their specialization in USA!! hahah! soooo..what’s the point of that script??????!!

Well, the dialogue was certainly offensive and discriminatory. Nevertheless, I don’t think the show’s writers would have written anything like it if not for all those stories about “supposed” doctors from the Philippines…doctors operating with their bare hands? C’mon…

A lesson learned for the TV producers who, after receiving petitions and hate letters from the Filipino-American community, finally apologized. Ergo, i would still watch it… it’s fun! hehe…

Should spend more time in reviewing their script. It’s not fair for Filipinos but the artist should not be blame for that.

Descrimination is really everywhere, that is a fact. But for this series, they could have been extra sensitive with this issue as it certainly affects the Filipino community.

Not everyone in the Philippines are watching the Desperate Housewives. This is just a propaganda in order to gain new audience offshore. They’ve succeded in gaining audience in the 4th Season premier by degrading a 3rd world country. Looking on the other side, they’ve also degraded their country. Now that the US is being replaced by Medical slaves coming from the Philippines, I think they should be more alarmed. They still need to import quality doctors and nurses.

That is so unfair! I think we should blame the director on this matter.

That is so lame for the part of “desperate housewives”… They should check their scripts first… Very lame!

it would have been more appropriate and actually funny if she had made up a name of a school like “Crazy Pete’s Mail-Order Diplomas” or something cheesy like most comedy shows normally do… coz i think it is very racist to actually name a specific country…tsk tsk tsk
